HEILMAN KARATE ACADEMY'S 53RD ANNIVERSARY

We are pleased to recognize that the HEILMAN KARATE ACADEMY, INC. has been operating for a total of 53 years. Over the last five decades Mr. and Mrs. Heilman have devoted a good portion of their lives to the practice and propagation of traditional Okinawan Martial Arts. We have been blessed to have had the opportunity to train under some of the top leading practitioners in the States and Okinawa. The highlight of our practice was to have been accepted as direct students of SEIKICHI ODO, HANSHI, Founder of Okinawa Kenpo Karate Kobudo.

With the passing of time and Mr. and Mrs. Heilman being in their mid to late 70's respectively and experiencing some health issues, it was time to transition the Dojo to the next generation. In January of 2024, the operation of the Dojo was assumed by one of our long time students, SCOTT REESER, RENSHI. The Dojo while a continuation of the HKA, will be operated under the formal name of KAIZEN DO DOJO. The Heilman's will still be part of the Dojo, assist in class instruction and the Dojo will still serve as the HONBU for the INTERNATIONAL KARATE KOBUDO FEDERATION. Our regular Training Camps such as, Spring Karate Camp, Annual Training, Fall Kobudo Camp and Winter Camp will still be held at the Dojo.

The change will permit the continuation of the Heilman Dojo Legacy while freeing up more time for the Heilman's to focus on better serving our affiliated IKKF Chartered Dojos via increased regional training seminars and Dojo visits.
