HISTORIC PHOTO TRIP DOWN MEMORY LANE
The following photos present an overview of some of the unique moments over the years. Mr. Heilman started his training in 1961 at the North Hills Jiu-Jitsu Karate Club in Pittsburgh, Pa. Mrs. Heilman started her training in 1968 with Hidy Ochaia at Albright College in Reading, Pa. In 1983 the Heilman's made a trip to Okinawa and Japan with Master Robert Trias. during that trip they were able to connect with Master Seikichi Odo and the rest is history. Master Odo's first visit to the HKA was in 1984. The Heilman's had the honor of hosting Master Odo for a number of visits to the States over the years as well as their making multiple trips to Okinawa. Hope you enjoy.

The Heilman's and some of their students with Master Robert Trias in 1981. It was through the Heilman's association with Master Trias that they were selected to travel to Japan and Okinawa with him in 1983 where they met Master Seikichi Odo, and the rest is history.

The Heilman's with the late Hanshi James Hawkes, Co-founder of the United States Karate Alliance.
Mr. Heilman with the late Mr. Louis Rabouin who was one of the early pioneers of karate in Eastern Pennsylvania. He opened his first school in the Philadelphia, Pa. area in 1960. He passed away at the age of 84 in 2011.
